Words of Wisdom Wednesday

"Work hard and have fun" (implying that the hard work is the fun) comes from my dear father-in-law, Rex Southwell.  He has often sent various of us off to our work with this saying and we've passed it along to our children.
We were blessed to have a great family reunion with him this past weekend.  Our nephew gave a "talk" on how much Dad has passed on to all of us that we now pass on to our children.  He went through the various characteristics found in 2 Peter 1:5-8 and told about how he saw those things worked out in and through Dad's life.  Then others stood and told about what a blessing Dad has been to them.  I was happy that they shared those things now when Dad could hear them instead of waiting till he will no longer hear them.  You can read the story of his parents' lives and salvation in Tall Trees, Tall People, available at Amazon.
It was a good time of fellowship, goofiness, renewing relationships and making new ones as well as counting our many blessing, not the least of which is the blessing of many children being raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

With such an undeserved godly heritage on both sides of the family, I

  1. What great advice - need to share that with my own children!
